Sneak-a-Peek is Ithan Montessori’s version of Meet the Teacher Night. A few days before the school year starts, families and students attend a fun day at school meeting teachers and visiting classrooms. Water ice and pretzels are served while families mingle and chat with teachers and administrators.
Each fall, Ithan Montessori celebrates the change of season with one of two fun traditions alternating years. Wynnorr Farm in Glen Mills hosts our fall hayride complete with a bonfire, hot dogs, smores and hot apple cider. Our pumpkin painting party takes place at Fenimore Woods Park in Wayne.
Our Thanksgiving feast consists of a delicious turkey soup, cornbread and homemade butter. Students act as chefs preparing and serving the feast to their families the week before the holiday.
This is Ithan Montessori’s longest running tradition. Parents gather the night before the party to assemble the houses, then the next evening the children return to school dressed in festive pajamas (as do many parents) and decorate their own house while listening to holiday music and drinking hot cocoa.
One this day, Ithan Montessori students and families gather for a day of service. This year the children filled 100 backpacks with hats, scarves, blankets and toiletries which were then delivered to a homeless shelter in Philadelphia. Past year projects consisted of collecting supplies for a local dog rescue, making no-sew blankets for children staying at CHOP and making puppets for children with speech delays in other countries.
This fun celebration occurs each spring as we honor our diverse community at Ithan Montessori. Families bring food that is traditional to their culture to share with friends. Many families dress in traditional attire and share music and songs with the group.
